Reverse

My midterm project for a class last semester. Above is the photograph (by Lewis Hine) I was working from. My work, below, was done in charcoal.

Llama

Or something like one. I have no idea why this is looks like a link, but my hand hurts too much to fix it.

Hide, Gypsies!

Still working on that longer project. Almost done.

Here is a sketch from a longer painting I want to do, but its not the one I'm working on. :D

Heather

See, I can draw people realistically. Sort of.

Dress Up

I was just fussing around with Silva's clothes. I promise to actually do something with her one day. I've been thinking of doing a short short story (drawn, of course, not written).

Monsters Etc.

Some random monster-ish things. More pencils cuz I'm still working on that longer painting. Its coming along well, and I'm thinking of putting up some WIPs.

More Pencils

Ship mechanic, Heather, is contemplating mutiny.

In Pencil?!

Heather scanned some doodles for me that I've been doing by hand. I'm only starting with this one because it doesn't need to be flipped. I've been working on a longer art project in both photoshop and maya all day, and I don't want to open either program for a bit.
My brain is fried.

Anyway, here's a steampunk outfit I sort of have planned.

yeah. ZZzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.

SIlva

Who would I draw if I didn't have Silva? Anyway, just some painting practice. Her look came from some character design styles I have been fooling around with.

Things I love:

You know it does.

WWCPD?

Today's Lesson: If you have no idea what you're drawing, decide it looks like Capt. Piccard and go from there.

BTW, did I ever mention that I finished Portal and I am ridiculously excited for Portal 2? Did I? There will be art on that.

Hat

I think when I started this project, I was too concerned with doing a "finished doodle". Which was sort of stupid. So here is a quick doodle that developed just on its own and I rather like it.

Inspired by the kinds of hats I wish I could wear. I would have to change my wardrobe though. Sigh.

Lesson of today: Loosen up.

It doesn't look like such to you, but this is a teacup. I can't show you my actual Maya teacup because there are no lights set up yet. That may come in a day or so. As much as I feel bad for not updating everyday, I still feel like I'm getting something out of this project. At least I am reminded that I should draw everyday.

Blarg.

Ew. City... city is a monster.

This is actually a little old, but it was a school day and I just don't have the energy on school days. I may post WIPs or Maya work on these days cuz I have no creativity for something new.

I'm not a gibbon!

So I'm taking Physical Anthropology this summer (human evolution and stuff) and so we talk about the different types of primates. Including -
GIBBONS!
My sister used to (still does) call me a gibbon. Its a long story. But, Manda, I can't be a gibbon; they're among the most graceful primates in existence.
I just don't belong.
But I am having fun learning about them. :)

This doodle was just for you, Manda.

I'm Nowhere

Bleh. I needed to get back into doing these. Inspired by a crowded light rail I was on today.

Hiatus

I've been throwing this image around quite a bit this last week. Basically this is the reason I haven't been posting. I worked on this for about 6 hrs, studied for other finals and went to work everyday for a week... and then Fanime happened at the end of the week. I didn't really had time to slow down and draw (or drink tea!!) but now I'm at home in the country. I've got time to relax.

I also forgot my tablet, so I can't draw in photoshop. So I may update with Maya shots from previous assignments or current projects. Yup.

Ciao.

Taking the Plunge

Yup. I downloaded the free version of Portal from Steampower.com . Haven't played it yet, but I'm pretty excited.

However, it seems that every semester I find a game to play during finals (last semester it was Farmville). I don't generally play computer games (never play video games) except during finals. I think its both a rewards system for studying and a coping mechanism for the stress. For example, if I want to get my final over with, but it's not for four days, I can achieve something else in the meanwhile to get my mind off of it.

And I always do pretty good on finals, so I figure it works...

Yay Portal! Thank you Steampower!

CONGRATULATIONS!

Congratulations, Big Sis!

No more pot-smoking, loud, dirty kids in your dorm, no more projects, grades or finals. You're free!

:D

(Yeah, I didn't post yesterday. It happens.)

Sir Remington IV

A very wealthy business man. Either he owns a circus because I love the irony or a successful carpet store.
Yup.

Banner!

I think it took longer to scale this to the blog than to actually make.

Gotta love brushes.

Jogging Around

Yeah. It was one of those days. I feel like I ran around everywhere. Well, I sort of did. But I only ran in the morning...then I just walked everywhere. A lot. And my knee hurts now.

I am tired now. Not making any sense.

Zzzzzzzz.

More Stars Below

In the city, there are so few stars.

I liked what I did yesterday, and so I wanted to do more cityscapes. I really wanted to see how the fog would look, but I didn't like it as much as I thought I would.

I may keep trying.

Gypsy in the Big City

Today had a lot of Steampunk inspired thoughts. I would really like to get into that. I would do gypsy steampunk though. Yeah. So that's where this came from.

Decided to change it up and use mostly the lasso tool.

From your little monkey.

Happy Mother’s Day!

A card for Mommy tomorrow.

Because I know I should...

I’m taking a leaf (tea leaf?) out of Pascal’s book and starting a daily sketch project. Purely for the sake of improvement, I nonetheless feel that a blog will help keep me accountable.

The girl is this picture has a lot of anatomy problems, but mostly I wanted to establish communication between her and the fish.

Fish!
