Reverse
My midterm project for a class last semester. Above is the photograph (by Lewis Hine) I was working from. My work, below, was done in charcoal.

In Pencil?!
Heather scanned some doodles for me that I've been doing by hand. I'm only starting with this one because it doesn't need to be flipped. I've been working on a longer art project in both photoshop and maya all day, and I don't want to open either program for a bit.
My brain is fried.
Anyway, here's a steampunk outfit I sort of have planned.
yeah. ZZzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.

Hat
I think when I started this project, I was too concerned with doing a "finished doodle". Which was sort of stupid. So here is a quick doodle that developed just on its own and I rather like it.
Inspired by the kinds of hats I wish I could wear. I would have to change my wardrobe though. Sigh.
Lesson of today: Loosen up.

It doesn't look like such to you, but this is a teacup. I can't show you my actual Maya teacup because there are no lights set up yet. That may come in a day or so. As much as I feel bad for not updating everyday, I still feel like I'm getting something out of this project. At least I am reminded that I should draw everyday.

I'm not a gibbon!
So I'm taking Physical Anthropology this summer (human evolution and stuff) and so we talk about the different types of primates. Including -
GIBBONS!
My sister used to (still does) call me a gibbon. Its a long story. But, Manda, I can't be a gibbon; they're among the most graceful primates in existence.
I just don't belong.
But I am having fun learning about them. :)
This doodle was just for you, Manda.

Hiatus
I've been throwing this image around quite a bit this last week. Basically this is the reason I haven't been posting. I worked on this for about 6 hrs, studied for other finals and went to work everyday for a week... and then Fanime happened at the end of the week. I didn't really had time to slow down and draw (or drink tea!!) but now I'm at home in the country. I've got time to relax.
I also forgot my tablet, so I can't draw in photoshop. So I may update with Maya shots from previous assignments or current projects. Yup.
Ciao.

Taking the Plunge
Yup. I downloaded the free version of Portal from Steampower.com . Haven't played it yet, but I'm pretty excited.
However, it seems that every semester I find a game to play during finals (last semester it was Farmville). I don't generally play computer games (never play video games) except during finals. I think its both a rewards system for studying and a coping mechanism for the stress. For example, if I want to get my final over with, but it's not for four days, I can achieve something else in the meanwhile to get my mind off of it.
And I always do pretty good on finals, so I figure it works...
Yay Portal! Thank you Steampower!

Because I know I should...
I’m taking a leaf (tea leaf?) out of Pascal’s book and starting a daily sketch project. Purely for the sake of improvement, I nonetheless feel that a blog will help keep me accountable.
The girl is this picture has a lot of anatomy problems, but mostly I wanted to establish communication between her and the fish.
Fish!
